GRILLLED TOFU

Tofu is a food which is prepared by curdling soy milk and pressing it from a solid white block. Softness of tofu blocks is variying like silken, soft, firm, extra firm and super firm. Tofu originated in China and has been consumed from over 2000 years. Tofu is also known as Bean Curd in English. Tofu is used in traditional East Asian and South Asian cuisines. In modern Western cooking, tofu is most often used as meat substitute.
Tofu is a rich source of protein and minerals like calcium and iron. Even in traditional Chinese medicine tofu is considered a cooling agent. Still people who allergic to soy or legumes should not consume it because it is made of Soy.
Today, I have prepared grilled tofu, marinated in green paste, which is perfect vegan and healthy breakfast.

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Serves: 1 person

Ingredients:
For green paste:
1 cup chopped coriander
1 small onion
3 garlic cloves
1″ piece ginger
2 green chillies
1 tbsp lemon juice
Salt to taste
Other ingredients:
8 piece tofu
1 onion
1 small bell pepper
Oil for grilling

Method:

  1. Blend ingredients of green paste and prepare a smooth paste.
  2. Peel and cut onions in quarters. Chop bell pepper into dices.
  3. Add tofu, onion and bell pepper in green paste. Mix and coat each ingredients properly and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Grease the grill pan and turn on the heat. Arrange each marinated ingredients and grill it from both sides.
  5. Once done remove from grill pan and relish it.

Note:

  1. You can add black pepper and lemon juice after grilling.
