MAWA BADAM MODAK

MAWA BADAM MODAK

Lord Ganesha loves Modak.
Modakpriya is one of Lord Ganesha’s 108 names, because of his love for Modak. Traditionally, Modak are made from rice flour, jaggery and fresh coconut as key ingredients and they are steamed. They are known as Ukadiche Modak. It is offered as Prasad to Lord Ganesha during Ganesh Chaturthi Puja. Though Ukadiche Modak are traditional but there are various Modak like fried, mawa/khoya/evaporated milk solids, Sooji, chocolate and so on.

Ingredients:
2 cup Mawa/ evaporated milk solids(I used brown Mawa from Rajkot).
½ cup almond powder
½ cup powdered sugar
1 tsp cardamom powder
Modak mould.

Method:
1. Grate Mawa and put it in preheated non stick pan.
2. Stir and once it starts becoming soft, add sugar. Mix and stir.
3. Cook it on slow flame till it forms a lump and leave the sides of the pan.
4. Now add almond powder and cardamom powder. Mix well.
5. Cook for a few seconds and turn off the heat.
6. Once it cools down enough to touch, take Modak mould, grease it and but the ready mixture, press firmly. Close the mould and after a few seconds, open it carefully and unmould Modak.
7. Refrigerate it for some time so it stiffens.
