
POHA LADOO
Word ‘Sweet’ has become synonym to Ladoos, Pedas, Barfis etc. Alongwith all these traditional sweets, there are many items under this list and still all the ‘Sweet Teeth’ always want something new. As a responsible wife, mother and woman, my try is to feed my family in healthier way, but with yummy twist.
Here is a Ladoo the key ingredients of which are POHA(flat riceflakes) and GUD(Jaggery). Gud will satisfy the sweet taste and save us from white poison, sugar. Loads of dry fruits fulfill vitamins and proteins supplement. As we all know Gud is good source of iron, ghee is also used in moderate quantity.
Ingredients:
1 cup Poha
1/3 cup Gud (grated)
3 tbsp Ghee
2 tbsp chopped Cashewnuts
2 tbsp chopped Almonds
1 tbsp Kishmish (Raisins)
1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder
2 tbsp Milk
1 Silver Leaf (Virkh)
Method:
1. Dry roast Poha on slow flame.
2. Then grind it in powder form. Add Gud in it and again grind it. Put it aside.
3. Now heat ghee and roast Cashewnuts and Almonds till it becomes light brown. Then add Raisins and Cardamom Powder. Turn off the stove.
4. Now mix Poha Gud mixture with the dry fruits. Mix well and add 2 tbsp cold milk one at a time. Again mix well.
5. Now make small ladoos out of that mixture. If needed, add a little ghee, if having problem in making ladoo.
6. Lastly decorate the balls with silver leaf(virkh)
7. Store in air tight container after it cools down.
