🕸️ HALLOWEEN KHAMAN DHOKLA 🕸️
When a traditional snack gets a spooky makeover! 👻

This Halloween, I gave our favorite Gujarati snack — Khaman Dhokla — a spooky twist! Soft, fluffy, and tangy-sweet dhokla made with gram flour, semolina, curd, and fruit salt transforms into cute and creepy Halloween-themed treats.
From spider webs and creepy crawlers to tiny coffin boxes — each bite is full of festive fun! Perfect for Halloween parties, kids’ snacks, or themed potlucks where Indian flavors meet creativity. 🎃✨

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients
1 cup gram flour (besan)
2 tbsp semolina (sooji)
½ cup curd (whisked)
½ cup water (approx.)
1 tsp green chilli paste
Salt to taste
1½ tsp fruit salt (eno)
Oil for greasing
For garnish & decoration:
Green chutney
Tomato ketchup
Carrot juliennes
Coriander leaves
Method:
In a bowl, combine gram flour, semolina, curd, water, green chilli paste, and salt. Whisk well to form a smooth batter. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
Just before steaming, add fruit salt and mix gently. Pour the batter into a greased steaming plate and steam for about 12–15 minutes or until cooked through. Cool slightly and unmould.
Cut and Create Halloween Designs:
🕷️ Creepy Crawlers:
Use a round cookie cutter to cut small circles. Slice each dhokla circle horizontally, spread green chutney inside, and arrange 6 carrot juliennes as legs. Place the top piece back — your cute creepy crawler is ready!
🍅 Spider Web:
Cut the dhokla in a round shape, draw spider web patterns with tomato ketchup.
⚰️ Coffin Box:
Cut dhokla into coffin-shaped pieces and make a small cross on top using thin carrot strips.
