BADAM PURI

BADAM PURI

The festive season calls for delicious sweets! ✨
Indian sweets are an essential part of celebrations like Rakhi, Diwali, and Navratri. Most of us are always on the lookout for easy, quick, yet delightful sweet treats to enjoy during these occasions.

Diwali is one of the most enthusiastically celebrated festivals in the country. And when it comes to festive sweets, there are so many delicious options like laapsi and more.
Apart from traditional sweets, I absolutely love these round cookies wrapped in golden cellophane paper — Badam Puri! 💛

Badam Puri is prepared mainly from almonds, along with cashew nuts, saffron, and sugar. Powdered nuts are combined with sugar and saffron milk to form a stiff dough, which is then shaped and baked into these beautiful, melt-in-the-mouth bites.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Makes: 5–6 pieces

Ingredients:

½ cup almond powder

½ cup cashew powder

¾ cup powdered sugar

¼ tsp saffron (soaked in 2 tbsp milk)

1 tsp cardamom powder

1 tbsp ghee

Soak almonds in water. Once soaked, remove the peels and dry them completely. Grind into a coarse powder. Similarly, grind the cashew nuts coarsely.

In a bowl, mix the almond powder, cashew powder, and powdered sugar. Add the saffron milk and combine well.

Heat ghee in a pan and cook this mixture on low flame until it starts leaving the sides of the pan.

Turn off the flame and transfer the mixture to a broad plate. Add cardamom powder and mix well.

When it becomes warm and easy to handle, knead it into a smooth dough.

Roll the dough thickly between parchment paper and cut into desired shapes using a cookie cutter.

Arrange them on a lined baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 5 minutes. (Alternatively, you can cook them on a non-stick pan.)

Once baked, cool completely on a wire rack. Store in an airtight jar.
For a store-bought festive touch, wrap each piece individually in golden cellophane paper. 🌟
