( Karwa Chauth Special Sweet)

Feni holds a cherished place in the rituals of Karwa Chauth, especially in North Indian households. This delicate sweet made from fine wheat vermicelli is often prepared as part of the Sargi thali or enjoyed after the moonrise puja, marking the completion of the day-long fast.

Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Serves: 2 persons

Ingredients:

1 cup sweet Feni
500 ml milk
2 tbsp sugar (as per taste)
1 tbsp ghee
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
1/8 tsp saffron (soaked in milk)
1 tbsp chopped almonds
1 tbsp chopped cashews
1 tsp raisins

Method:

In a pan, warm ghee on low flame. Add almond, cashew and raisins and fry it. Keep aside.

Pour in the milk and bring it to a gentle boil.

Stir in sugar, crushed cardamom, and saffron.

Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes, till the milk slightly thickens.

Add the Feni and cook until it turns soft and aromatic.

Switch off the flame and garnish with nuts and raisins.

Serve it warm for a comforting treat or chilled for a creamy festive dessert.
