FASTING POTATO PAKODA (VRAT VALE ALOO PAKODE)

Crispy from outside and soft from inside, these Fasting Potato Pakodas are a delightful snack to enjoy during Navratri or any fasting day. Made using a ready fasting flour mix and spiced potato slices, they are quick to prepare and perfect to serve with green chutney or curd dip. Fasting foods are usually simple, sattvic, and light, avoiding regular grains and spices—yet recipes like this keep the vrat menu flavorful and satisfying.

Ingredients:
2 large boiled potatoes – cut into thick slices
1 cup store-bought fasting flour premix
½–¾ cup water (to make batter)
½ tsp black pepper powder
½ tsp rock salt (sendha namak)
Oil – for deep frying
Method:
In a bowl, mix fasting flour premix with water to make a smooth batter.
Sprinkle black pepper & rock salt on potato slices.
Heat oil in a pan.
Dip potato slices in batter, coat well & deep fry till golden & crisp.
Drain on tissue & serve hot.
