RAGI FLOUR SUKHDI


Ragi Flour Sukhdi is a wholesome and nourishing twist on the traditional Gujarati sweet. Made with nutrient-rich ragi (finger millet) flour, ghee, and jaggery, this melt-in-the-mouth treat is packed with calcium, iron, and fiber. Ragi imparts a hearty, earthy flavor, while jaggery adds natural sweetness—making it a healthier dessert option. This easy-to-make sweet is perfect for kids, elders, or anyone looking for a guilt-free indulgence that blends traditional roots with modern nutrition.

Serves: 4

Ingredients:
1 cup ragi flour

¾ to 1 cup ghee

¾ cup jaggery

2 tbsp almond flakes

1 tsp cardamom powder

Method:
Heat ghee in a pan and sauté the ragi flour on a low to medium flame until it turns aromatic and slightly changes color. Then turn off the heat.

Add the jaggery and mix well until fully combined.

Stir in 1 tablespoon of almond flakes and the cardamom powder.

Transfer the mixture to a greased plate or mould and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the remaining almond flakes on top and press lightly.

While still warm, cut into desired shapes.

Once completely cooled, remove the pieces and store them in an airtight container.
