STRAWBERRY BROKEN WHEAT PUDDING

Broken wheat commonly known as Daliya is a nutritious grain that is made by grinding whole wheat into coarse particles. Broken wheat is good source of fiber, iron, vitamins, zinc, copper, magnesium and antioxidants. Its comparatively easy to digest and promotes good gut health. Broken wheat can be used in many dishes like khichdi, pulav, upma, porridge, pongal and sweet dishes like lapsi etc. I have prepared strawberry infused broken wheat pudding. As we know strawberries are rich source of vitamin-C, Manganese and also contains Folate ( vitamin B9 ) , Potassium in good amount. These fruit are loaded with antioxidants and all these nutrients make thus fruit beneficial for good health.
This pudding is best combination of taste and health and a good choice for any occasion. Consume as a sweet with meals or as a breakfast bowl or enjoy as a dessert after meals – choice is yours.

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Serves: 2 persons

Ingredients:
1 cup pressure cooked broken wheat
3 cup milk
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp almond flakes
1 tbsp pistachio flake
1/2 cup chopped strawberries

Method:

  1. In a pan add milk and cooked broken wheat. Mix and turn on the heat.
  2. Once it starts boiling turn the flame low to medium. After five minutes add brown sugar and cook for more five minutes.
  3. Add almonds, pistachio flakes and cook until it turns thick. It hardly takes five minutes. Then turn off the heat and let it cool.
  4. Once it comes to room temperature add chopped strawberries and keep in refrigerator to chill.
  5. Serve chilled.

Note:

  1. Do not add strawberries in advance.
