APPLE CRUMBLE

Apple Crumble is a baked fruit dessert with a layer of topping. In the US , this dessert is known as Apple Crisp and in the UK it is known as Apple Crumble. The main difference between these two is of the toppings. Crumble topping rarely includes oats or nuts. Usually crumble is served warm with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Here I have replace all purpose flour with wheat flour for a healthier version.

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Baking time: 30 minutes
Serves: 4 persons

Ingredients:
3 apples
1/2 cup sugar
3 tsp cinnamon powder
1 cup wheat flour
3/4 cup oats
3/4 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla essence

Method:

  1. Cut ,deseed and peel apple and chop them.
  2. In a pan add chopped apple, brown sugar , 1 tsp cinnamon and some water and cook till the apple softens.
  3. For crumble add flours, oats and brown sugar in a bowl, mix well.
  4. Now add butter and mix very well with the helps of fingers. Add vanilla essence and cinnamon powder and mix well.
  5. Strain the cooled apple so the excess water discarded.
  6. Preheat the oven and grease the baking tray. Add cooked apples in a baking tray and spread it well.
  7. Add prepared crumble over it and lightly press it.
  8. Now keep this tray in the pre heated oven and bake it for 30 minutes on 180℃ degree.
  9. Serve warm or cold.
