MOTH KHAKHRA

Thin, crispy and roasted khakhra is popular Gujarati snack which is best and healthy option for breakfast and snacking. Most commonly khakhra are prepared from wheat flour but there are many other flours and ingredients from which khakhra can be prepared. Moth/Matki/dew beans are protein rich legume. we can prepare khakhra from moth flour or also from split moth beans. These khakhra are majorly consumed in winters. Today I have prepared khakhra from moth flour.

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Makes: 12 khakhra
Ingredients:
2 cup moth flour
1 cup wheat flour
2 tbsp oil
4 tbsp sesame seeds
1 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
Method:
- Mix both flours, add 1 tbsp sesame seeds,.salt, oil and rest of spices and knead hard dough. Divide into equal sized balls.
- Take one ball, press it between palms, sprinkle sesame seeds. Roll thin khakhra with the help of dry flour.
- Heat skillet, once it becomes hot, put the rolled khakhra and cook lightly from both sides.
- Then with the clean kitchen towel, press khakhra and carefully roast them from both sides on slow flame till it becomes crispy. Continue with rest of dough balls.
- Once they cool completely, store them in an airtight container. Apply ghee and relish.
