VRAT KE DHOKLE

Dhokla – soft, spongy, savoury, steamed cake is popular Gujarati snack, loved by everyone. Farali Dhokla is prepared with little millet aka Sama ke chawal/ moraiya/ mordhan and tapioca pearls aka Sabudana. This vrat ka dhokla is prepared quickly. This soft, spongy, flavourful and glutenfree dhokla is a best as a fasting recipe as they are steamed and glutenfree, unlike other fried fasting delicacies. Preparation time : 15 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Serves : 2 persons
Ingredients:
1 cup little millet ( sama rice )
1/4 cup tapioca pearls ( sabudana )
1/2 cup curd
1 tsp green chilli paste
1 tsp fruit salt
Rock Salt (sengha namak )to taste
For tempering :
1 tbsp oil
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
Few curry leaves
Method:
1. Grind little millet and tapioca pearls like fine semolina and not like flour.


2. Transfer it in a bowl, add half cup curd and about half cup water and mix well. Cover and keep aside for 15 minutes.


3. After 15 minutes add chilli paste and salt , mix well, if needed add little water.

4. Prepare steamer and turn on the heat, once it becomes hot and water nears to boil, add fruit salt and mix well.

5. Transfer immediately this mixture to greased plate and keep this plate into steamer.

6. Cover and let it cook for 10-15 minutes.

7. After 10-12 minutes check dhokla with knife. Then remove the plate from the steamer.

8. Heat the oil for tempering and prepare temper and pour it over the dhokla.


9. Cut it into desrired shape and serve hot.


Note:
1. Can add green chillies in tempering.
