MAMRA LADOO/ MURMURA LADOO (PUFFED RICE BALLS)

MAMRA Ladoo, Mamra Chikki or Pori Urundai, is prepared and consumed almost across India. Especially, prepared and consumed during Makar Sankranti festival along with other Chikkis.
As the name says, Mamra ladoo is prepared from puffed rice and jaggery and they are not only light and crisp but delicious too. Unlike other traditional ladoos these ladoos don’t contain ghee and sugar but prepared from iron rich jaggery and it is a healthy option to satisfy sweet cravings.
Preparation time : 5 mins
Cooking time : 10 mins
Makes 15-20 balls
Ingredients:
4 cups Puffed Rice (Mamra) (Approx)
1 cup Jaggery
1 tbsp ghee
Method:
1. Dry roast puffed rice to remove moisture if any. Grate jaggery.
2. Heat ghee in a thick bottom vessel.
3. Add jaggery and keep stirring. Keep the flame on low.
4. Once the jaggery melts properly and is about to start boiling, turn off the heat.
5. Add puffed rice and mix well quickly.


6. Then grease your palms with ghee or you can use water too and take little mixture in palm and roll it into a ball.
7. It will be hot, you can let it cool for while but if it cools then it is hard to make balls.
8. Once it cools completely, store it in an air tight jar.
