BATTERED BELL PEPPER

Bell Peppers also known as Capsicum is native to Central and South Africa. Green , Red abd Yellow bell peppers are available and used more. Orange and purple bell peppers are also cultivated. Though bell peppers are Botanically fruits but Chefs used them as vegetables. It can be consumed raw or cooked.
Bell peppers are low in calories and rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants. Like other fruits, bell peppers also have many health benefits and if consumed in adequate amount, they dont have any adverse effect. Bell peppers don’t only make your dish colourful but also gives you health benefits
Here , I have made bell peppers with gram flour. Which basically is a Gujarati side dish.

Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 5 minutes
Serves: 2persons

Ingredients:

1 medium size bell pepper ( Red)
1 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
Pinch of asafoetida
3 tbsp gram flour
Salt to taste

Method:

1. Wash and discard seeds from bell pepper and chop it in dices.

2. Heat oil , add mustard seeds, once they splutters , add asafoetida and turmeric powder and diced bell peppers. Mix and saute for couple of minutes.

3. Further add 1/4 cup os water and salt, after one boil turn the flame to slow and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.

4. Now sprinkle gram flour little by little in that way, it cover all water from the top.

5. Then mix well, make sure that no lumps are formed. Let it cook on slow flame for 2-3 minutes so that flour cook well .

6. Serve with regular meal.

Note:

1. You can add some spicy green chillies, if you like spicy.
