ZEBRA CAKE

ZEBRA CAKE

I love cooking and I am passionate about it. But baking is not my forte. I bake only basic recipes. So when it comes to bake something I am always nervous about the outcome and its perfection.
When I saw the pictures of Zebra Cake, I wished that I too want to make such lovely patterned cake. In this lockdown, my wish came true. Few days ago, on my son’s birthday, I tried this cake and it turned out good.

Preparation time: 15 mins
Cooking time: 30 mins
Serves: 4 persons

INGREDIENTS:
1.5 cup all purpose flour
½ cup curd
1 cup oil
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
2 tbsp cocoa powder
½ cup milk
Pinch of salt

METHOD:
1. Mix and whisk curd, powdered sugar, oil and vanilla essence in a bowl.
2. Then put a sieve on it and add flour, baking powder, baking soda, and a pinch of salt and sieve it.

3. Add milk little by little while mixing it continuously to prepare a batter.

4. Now divide the prepared batter into 2 equal halves. In one portion, add cocoa powder and 2 tbsp milk and mix well.

5. Now in a greased cake pan line a butter paper and grease it as well. Pour one spoonful of each batter alternatively from the Centre.

6. Once it is done, make patterns like spider web or of your choice with a toothpick.

7. In a preheated oven, bake it for 30mins approx. Or 180°C. Check with toothpick, if the cake is baked or not.

8. Once it is baked, let it cool and then unmould it and relish it.

NOTE:
1. 6″ to 7″ round cake pan is perfect for this quantity measurement.
2. You can add coffee with cocoa powder to make coffee Flavoured cake.
