BHUNGLA BATETA ( SPICY POTATOES WITH FRIED PIPE SHAPED FRYUMS

This is very popular street food of Porbandar and Dhoraji city of Gujarat. In this recipe ,potatoes are made by using garlic and spices and served with fried pipe fryums. We all have enjoyed eating pipe fryums from our fingers in our childhood.

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes.
Serves : 2 persons

Ingredients:

8-10 baby potatoes
3 tbsp oil
1 tbsp finely chopped coriander
1 tbsp lemon juice
Salt to taste

For garlic chutney:
15-20 cloves garlic
2 tbsp kashmiri red chilli powder
1 tsp roasted cumin seed powder
Salt to taste
Oil for frying fryums

Method:

1. Mix all the ingredients of garlic chutney and grind it into a paste without adding water.
2. Wash and clean potato and pressure cook it by adding water and salt. Once cooked and cooled, peel off.

3. Heat 1 tbsp oil in non stick pan and saute the boiled potatoes from all the sides by flipping from time to time.

4. Remove potatoes and in the same pain add rest of oil and saute garlic chutney in it on a low flame till rawness of garlic is gone.

5. Add approximately 1/4 cup of water , mix well and let it cook with lid covered for 2-3 minutes. Oil will come to the surface , once it is cooked.

6. Then add potatoes, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add salt and coriander .

7. Turn off the heat and add lemon juice and mix well.

8. Heat oil and fry pipe fryums.

9. Enjoy and relish, garlicky and spicy potatoes with pipe fryums.
