CHIKOO HALVA

Chikoo is a tropical fruit which is exceptionally sweet. Chikoo is rich in fibre and anti-inflammatory properties that helps in constipation. It is high in calorie so it provides you with instant energy. As Chikoo is a very sweet fruit, when we make its dessert, we need less sugar.
Chikoo halva is basically north Indian dish but everybody love this delectable sweet.
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Serves: 4 persons
Ingredients:
500-gram chikoo or 1 cup chikoo paste
3/4 cup khoya dehydrated milk solids
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp ghee
1 tbsp broken cashew nuts
1 tbsp thin sliced almonds
1/4 tsp cardamom powder
Method:
1. Peel chikoos, remove seeds, chop it and grind it into a paste.
2. Heat 1 tsp ghee in a pan and saute khoya till it becomes pink. Transfer it to a plate.


3. In the same pan, add one tsp ghee, add chikoo paste and saute it for 3-4 minutes.

4. Then add sugar and cook till sugar dissolves properly and starts to become thick.


5. It’s time to add khoya, cashew nuts and cardamom powder, mix well and cook for 4-5 minutes on slow flame. It will start leaving sides of the pan and becomes a thick lump. Our halva is ready. Turn off the heat.


6. Garnish with almonds and serve hot.

Note:
1. Can store it in the refrigerator for 4-6 days.
