DATES TAMARIND CHUTNEY

This is very important & basic condiment in any Chaat Recipes. Actually we can’t imagine any chaat dishes without this sweet & sour chutney. The key ingredients of this chutney are iron rich dates & jaggery & tangy tamarind.
We can store this chutney in deep freezer for long time.
This chutney can be made with different Ingredients too. You can replace tamarind with dry mango ( amboliya ).
Preparation time:10 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Makes 3 cups
Ingredients:
2 cup deseeded dates
1/4 cup tamarind
1/2 cup grated jaggery
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp roasted cumin powder
1 tsp black salt
Salt to taste
Method:
1. Wash dates & tamarind, add jaggery and one cup water & pressure cook it for 3 whistles.
2. Once the steam releases completely, open it & let it cool. Then blend it into smooth paste.



3. Strain it and add 2 cups of water, chilli powder,cumin powder,black salt and salt. Mix well. Can add more water if it seems too thick.


4. Store it in deep freeze and use as required.
