ATUKULU DADDOJANAM (Curd Poha)

Atukulu Daddojanam is a cooling, comforting Andhra-style dish made by combining soft poha with creamy curd and a flavourful tempering. It’s light on the stomach, quick to prepare, and perfect for summers, vrat days, or when you’re craving something simple yet satisfying. With the aroma of ginger, curry leaves, and green chillies, this curd-poha dish brings the same soulfulness as daddojanam but cooks in under 10 minutes.

Serves: 2 persons
Ingredients:
1 cup medium-thick poha (atukulu)
1 cup curd (adjust thickness)
3 tbsp milk (optional for creaminess)
Salt to taste
1 tbsp grated carrot
1 tbsp chopped cucumber
1 tsp chopped coriander
For Tempering:
1 tsp ghee
½ tsp mustard seeds
½ tsp urad dal
A pinch of hing
1 chopped green chilli
½ inch ginger (finely chopped)
Few curry leaves
Method:
Rinse poha 1–2 times and let it sit for 3–4 minutes until soft. Do not over-soak.
In a bowl, whisk curd ,milk with salt.
Add carrot and cucumber.
Add softened poha and mix gently. Add coriander.
Heat ghee, add mustard seeds, urad dal, hing, chillies, ginger, curry leaves.
Pour this tempering over the curd-poha mixture.
Mix well and serve immediately.
