TULSI SUDHA

Tulsi – a name known to all of us – holds great religious and medicinal importance.
Most Hindu families grow the Tulsi plant in their home garden or in a pot. Known as Holy Basil in English, this revered plant is considered an elixir of life. This aromatic shrub is not only sacred but also packed with numerous health benefits. Rich in Vitamin K and antioxidants, Tulsi helps fight diseases and strengthens immunity.

Presenting a tangy and sweet Tulsi drink, also referred to as a kadha or sharbat, which aids in digestion, cough and cold relief, headaches, gastric issues, and acidity.

Makes: 10 glasses
Ingredients
3/4 cup fresh Tulsi leaves
1/2 cup Gud (jaggery – preferably chemical-free)
5 lemons
10–15 cardamoms
10 cups water
Method
Wash the Tulsi leaves and make a fine paste using lemon juice and cardamoms.
In a large vessel, combine water and jaggery. Bring to a boil, and once the jaggery dissolves completely, turn off the heat.
When the jaggery water becomes lukewarm, add the Tulsi paste. Mix well and cover the vessel. Let it rest for 2 hours.
Once it cools down completely, strain the liquid.
Enjoy warm like tea during winters or chilled in summers.

This drink can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 15 days.
