JAMFAL NU SHAK
(AMRUD SABZI/GUAVA CURRY)

Jamfal/Amrud/Guava, a tropical fruit is blessed with amazing and numerous nutrients. Guava’s remarkable nutrients offer many health benefits. Apart from consuming it directly as a fruit, we can prepare juice, dip etc. They are also used in making various desserts.
Here is a very quick ,tangy curry recipe which is very delicious and often made by Jain community.

Preparation time : 5 minutes
Cooking time : 10 minutes
Serves : 2 persons
Ingredients:
4 properly riped Guava
1 tbsp oil
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
1 dry red chilli
Pinch of asafoetida
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tbsp coriander cumin powder
2 tbsp jaggery
Salt to taste
Method:
1. Wash guava and cut it into 4 or 8 parts. Scoop out the centre part with seeds and then chop rest of guavas.


2. Now take all scooped seeds part in chutney jar and grind it.

3. Now transfer this paste in sieve and separate seeds and pulp by pressing ,rubbing with spoon. Add 1 cup water in pulp and blend it.



4. Heat the oil, add mustard seeds, once they splutter add red chilli, asafoetida and chopped guava.

5. Add blended pulp water, turmeric, red chilli powder, salt and mix well.


6. Add jaggery and if needed add 1/4-1/2 cup of water. Cover and let it cook for 5-7 minutes or till the guava is cooked properly.
7. Lastly add coriander-cumin powder, mix well and turn off the heat after 1 minute.


8. Serve hot with fulka roti.
