CHEESE GARLIC NAAN

Naan is leavened flat bread ,originated in Southern Asia and Central Asia. In India naan is popular in Northern states. Naan can be prepared from all purpose flour as well as wheat flours.
Cheese Garlic Naan is favourite among both youngsters and adults and because of cheese, kids always love it. This is a delicious , flaky flat bread stuffed with cheese, flavoured with garlic.
Traditional naan is prepared in tandoor. We can also prepare on tawa ( skillet ) and direct on flame at home.

Preparation time : 30 minutes
Cooking time : 15 minutes
Resting time : 2 hours
Serves: 4 persons

Ingredients:

1.5 cup all purpose flour
1 cup wheat flour
1/2 cup curd
1.5 tsp dry yeast
1 tbsp butter/ghee
1/4 cup finely chopped coriander
1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
1 tsp oil
1 cup grated cheese
Butter for naan

Method:

1. Combine both flours, garlic, coriander, salt, yeast and butter and mix well till all the ingredients incorporate well.

2. Add curd and knead a soft dough. If needed , add water.

3. Further more add 1 tsp oil and knead into a smooth dough.

4. Finally place the dough into a greased large bowl and cover it with damp cloth and let it rest for at least 2 hours in a warm place.

5. After resting ,dough will be double in size , punch it and knead little and divide it in equal sized balls.
5. Turn on the flame and keep tawa/skillet ( preferably iron or cast iron tawa)on it to heat it up. Take one ball and roll it little, put spoonful of cheese in centre and gather all sides to make the ball again, seal edges properly.

7. Flatten balls with palms and roll it oval, oblang and elongated.

8. Now brush the rolled naan with water on top side and place that side on heated tawa.

9. After a few seconds , flip the tawa upside down, so the naan is in direct contact with the flame.

10. The naan will fall from tawa, then using pair of tongs, cook the other side on direct flame.

11. Remove it from the flame and spread butter generously.
12. Serve hot along with meals.
