THEPLA

This thin, spiced Indian flat bread is identity of Gujarat. Gujaratis & theplas are made for each other. Basically Gujarati thepla spread it’s fame world wide & now they are available out of Gujarat & many non gujarati communities like thela & cook it.
Theplas are made from wheat flour and can be ate in breakfast , lunch or dinner. Theplas tastes best with anything like tea , snacks, curd ,pickle or vegetable.

Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time : 15 minutes
Serves : 4 persons

Ingredients:
2 cup wheat flour
4 tbsp oil
2 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
Pinch of asafoetida
Salt to taste
Oil for cooking

Method:

1. Knead medium hard dough by adding all spices in flour.

2. Divide dough in equal parts. Roll thin theplas. Use dry flour while rolling.

3. Now on a preheated skillet, cook theplas from both sides by adding oil.

4. Serve hot with tea , pickle ,curd or vegetable. It tastes best with ghee when it is cold.
