THAYIR SADAM ( CURD RICE)

Thayir Sadam aka Curd Rice is favourite of all. Thayir means curd & Sadam means rice. There are lots of combination of rice dishes we all make in our routine life. Though in regular meals steamed rice is consumed by all of us. But combination rice delicacies are have turned into one pot meal.
Curd rice is easy to make& tastes yummy too. When you feel nothing to eat or cook more, this is best option for rice lovers. One more thing is tgat we can use left over rice too. Curd rice is best option in festive season when we are fed up of sweets & heavy food.

Ingredients:
1 cup rice (cooked)
1 cup curd (whipped)
2 tbsp oil
2-3 green chillies (chopped)
2 tbsp cucumber (chopped)
2 tbsp carrot ( grated)
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp udad dal
1 pinch asafoetida
6-8 curry leaves
1-2 dry red chillies (optional)
1 tbsp coriander ( chopped)
Salt to taste.

Method:
1. Mix rice, curd, grated carrots, half of coriander & salt.
2. Heat oil & add mustard seeds, once it starts spluttering add asafoetida, udad dal, curry leaves & green chillies, stir for a while & add this tempering to curd rice.
3. Add water as per your choice of consistency.
4. Garnish with rest of coriander & serve with papad.
Note:
1. If you wish to add red chillies, add at the time of tempering.
2. If curd is sour can add milk at the time of mixing curd.
