Hello, I am Deepa Rupani, a home maker & passionate about healthy food. My tries and experiments in kitchen are always for healthy food. I wish, want, modify and innovate old recipes in a healthy way by replacing them with healthy ingredients. My sweet family includes my husband and two lovely sons. Their health is my first preference when I cook for them.
I was born, brought up and educated in Rajkot (Gujarat,India). Though I am a commerce graduate, my interests are in cooking, art & craft and in creating artwork. Movies, Music, Traveling- these are my hobbies. I like Nature and Archaeological Sites very much. So, i like to travel to such places. I wish to go to Angkor Vat (Cambodia) and Hampi (Karnataka, India).
I am hyper sensitive and this nature leads me to sometimes speak something which I shouldn’t. Though I am fun loving and believe in “Live Life King Size”, love and care are strengths of my nature. And I am allergic to “Lies & Liars”. I am living simple (not so simple) life with no strict rules. My favourite colour is Black. Music is ‘must’ for me, especially when I am in the Kitchen, cooking.
We all are living with few or more unfulfilled wishes, but I have no regrets and grateful to god for my privileged existence.
My mother plays a major role in making me passionate about food. Since, my childhood, I saw her cook food & satisfy taste. Till date, even with her ill health , she is ready to cook for her grand kids anytime. This tempo of her always inspires me. As time passed, I got married and with other tips, I remember her tip to feed and taking care of taste buds of everyone in family. Though I am not fond of Pickles, nor anybody at my mother’s place are fond of pickles. So, I only know a few basic pickles. But my Father-in-Law was very fond of pickles and that made me experiment to make new pickles. Along with support from family and huge encouragement from closed ones, i get inspired more and more to try new recipes.
I love Gujarati food in routine and Puran Poli is favourite still I love to prepare various cuisines & dishes at home and also when went out. South Indian cuisine is always my fist choice and i can have it anytime of the day.
Learning is a never-ending process. It can never be completed and there is no age limit to learn. So, always crave for something new. Apart from innovating new recipes, I love to learn from other cooks’ skills, tips and recipes. From this, I learn how the same ingredients in different ways.
At a very young age, I had started helping my mom in cooking. The day when I kneaded my first dough, the day when I made my first round roti, I will always remember. Since my teens till date, everyday is a learning and it will continue till the last breath.
I would like to share that it was a really proud moment for me when Two of my recipes were included in “CHEF AT HOME”- A magazine published by Mrs. Hina Gautam, a renowned Chef from Gujarat, India.
I would like to say that stick to your passion and never give up.
HAPPY COOKING!! HAPPY EATING!!
